Relics of Saint Bernadette trip, to say the least! After a media tour of several months in the United States, which began in April 2022, the relics of “the little saint of Lourdes” returned in August 2022. Before another trip, this time to the British Isles!
Last September, the relics of Bernadette Soubirous had actually stopped in the Scottish, Welsh and English dioceses and shrines.
Montpellier, Lyons, Marseille,…
The relics began a pilgrimage from December 1 to 14 in southeastern France, with a first stop this Thursday at Montpellier. They will then go to Nîmes (from 5 to 6 December), at Ales (from 6 to 7 December), at Bagnols-sur-Ceze (from 7 to 8 December), in Lyon (from 8 to 10 December), then in Marseilles (from 11 to 14 December).
Did you know ?
The relics have been kept in a gold reliquary since 1925. They are bone fragments and the hair of Bernadette Soubirous, who witnessed 18 apparitions of the Virgin Mary in 1858 at the site of the Grotto in Massabielle.
Bernadette Soubirous was canonized in 1933 by Pope Pius XI.
This pilgrimage is part of Our Lady of Lourdes missions and 150e the anniversary of the national pilgrimage to Lourdes.
“Every moment of devotion will make it possible to discover even more of the Message of Lourdes, which Bernadette let be heard and received throughout the world. A chaplain from the sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes will be present when the relics pass through Lyon and Marseille. »
Another pilgrimage will follow in February-March 2023.
