Elon Musk’s crazy story with Twitter

Suddenly, everything was secondary and the digital planet was torn apart by Elon Musk’s takeover, on Thursday, October 27, of Twitter for $44 billion (€44.24 billion). Even the most famous outlaw of the famous network, the one who no longer has the right to citizenship on the digital forum since his coup attempt on January 6, 2021, has invited himself into the debate. “I’m very happy that Twitter is now in good hands and no longer run by crazy and left-wing lunatics who really hate our country.”wrote Friday, October 28, Donald Trump on his own social network.

The debate took a surprising turn, as they each appropriated the network and personally challenged the site’s new master, Elon Musk, the richest man in the world. Everyone goes there with their personal note and creates an alleged intimacy with Mr. Musk, the man with 112 million subscribers. The latter tweets, “the bird has been let loose”. Thierry Breton, the European Commissioner for Digital, answers him directly: “In Europe it will fly according to our rules. “This will cause controversy, but the censorship of the platforms had clearly gone too far”writes former computer scientist and whistleblower Edward Snowden from his Russian refuge.

There are those who test censorship by insulting Elon Musk and showing his photo with Ghislaine Maxwell, the pedophile Jeffrey Epstein who committed suicide in prison. The derivations of pictures and other jokes rain down by the hundreds. Some are calling on Mr. Musk to offer their services, asking for certification of their Twitter account, such as Kyle Rittenhouse, a young gun-crazed right-wing extremist who killed two people in the Kenosha riots in the summer of 2020 but was acquitted of self-defense. Still others are calling for the unblocking of their account: ” Hi ! @Elon Musk! This is Lana Del Rey and I’m tweeting from my backup account. Do you think it’s possible to reactivate my disabled account?”

All weekend, Republicans and the far right celebrated when Elon Musk retweeted a conspiratorial message about Paul Pelosi, the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, being the victim of an assault. The left is horrified, it New York Times pretending to organize the resistance: “After Elon Musk took office, some Twitter users wondered whether they should take additional steps to protect their accounts or even delete them.” while General Motors, rival to Tesla, Elon Musk’s car company, suspended its advertising investment on Twitter.
