Microsoft has formalized a date for its next Surface Event. The Redmond giant’s annual conference, dedicated to the Surface series, will be held this year on October 12… and this edition is likely to be special for at least two reasons: this year marks the tenth anniversary of the Surface series. , and for the first time since 2019 the event could be held in person (and no longer remotely).

There is therefore a good chance that Microsoft will make this Surface Event 2022 a bit special. It remains to be seen what the company will present to us. And on this page, rumors abound.

What products can you expect at Surface Event 2022?

First, Microsoft should unveil its Surface Pro 9. This new tablet under Windows 11 should follow the lines of the Surface Pro 8, but with an important novelty: the possibility to choose between an Intel x86 processor or an ARM chip (probably developed in jointly by Microsoft and Qualcomm, like the SQ1 and SQ2 chips in the Surface Pro X). According to Windows Central, this Surface Pro 9 could finally adopt two new colors: Sapphire (blue) and Forrest (green). These new colors would come in addition to the graphite and patinium finishes that we already know.

Recent rumors also put us on the trail of a fifth Surface Laptop of the name. On the other hand, the device would be satisfied with the bare minimum, with a simple switch to Intel’s 12th generation “Alder Lake” processors. It would retain the same screen and design with no other notable changes. That said, other leaks suggest the company is focusing on a potential Surface Laptop Gaming that pairs Intel’s 12th Gen “H” processors with Nvidia’s RTX 3050 Ti or 3070 Ti. The device would also feature a 16-inch QHD IPS panel capable of going up to 165 Hz. Information that they should take with a grain of salt at the moment.

Microsoft could finally show us a new Surface Studio all-in-one desktop PC. It would then be a matter of replacing the current Surface Studio 2, which is more than aging because it was launched in 2018. There we would find a 12th generation Intel processor coupled with an RTX 3000. The launch of accessories on the occasion of this Surface Event 2022 n should not be ruled out either. We are thinking, for example, of new Surface Earbuds headphones or even new Type Cover keyboards. Windows Central also has its fingers crossed that Microsoft will launch its Volterra project: a development kit Windows on ARM which could prove beneficial for the Redmond giant’s ecosystem.
