Elizabeth II’s funeral: follow the ceremony live
For the occasion, Britain froze for a day. Almost 2,200 people were invited to Westminster Abbey for the monarch’s funeral, including around 500 heads of state and senior foreign dignitaries.
At the end of the day, another ceremony took place in the Chapel of Saint-Georges, at Windsor Castle, where Elizabeth II now rests.
Thousands of Britons gathered at the Queen’s coffin route to pay their last respects. In Windsor, the funeral of Elizabeth II ended with a moving “God save the King”, addressed to her son, Charles.
