The e-commerce giant is expanding its service offer! In a statement released on August 1, Sarah Mathew, Director of Amazon Delivery Experience, announces the launch of “Same-Day Delivery”, same-day delivery for Prime members in the United States. At first, only a small selection of brands, such as Diesel or PacSun, will participate in this new delivery service.
An offer limited to a few brands
After One-Day Delivery, Amazon is stepping up a gear with Same-Day Delivery. The service is free for all Prime members who spend at least $25 on their order, otherwise delivery will cost $2.99. The offer remains very limited at the moment since it is only available in certain areas in the United States. Customer must live near Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Miami, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Seattle or Washington DC to qualify.
Amazon acquires iRobot, which markets Roomba vacuum cleaners
Similarly, Same-Day Delivery only offers a limited range of products, since only a selection of brands and their physical stores are partners with the offer. These are mainly clothing brands such as Diesel, PacSun and SuperDry, or the food supplement store, GNC. Amazon plans to add Sur La Table kitchen accessories store and 100% Pure cosmetics in the near future.
Same-Day Delivery orders are placed on the mobile application or the Amazon site. The platform transmits the order details to the nearest store for it to be prepared by an employee. An Amazon partner deliverer then takes care of the delivery to the customer. The American company specifies that it is preferable to order before noon to hope to receive its purchases the same day before 9 p.m. The service also allows you to pick up your order yourself in the store, like Click and Collect.
Amazon wants to offer ever faster deliveries
This new service is the logical continuation of Amazon’s strategic evolution. While the pandemic and lockdowns have been a hugely lucrative time for home delivery, Amazon experienced its first slowdown since 2015 in the first quarter of 2022. In a bid to emulate food and grocery delivery apps, which have become widely democratized, the e-commerce giant has recently introduced this type of service to Prime.
Same-Day Delivery allows the company to expand fast delivery to other products. ” Expanding Amazon’s Same-Day Delivery offering to include popular brands delivering directly from local stores is a new way to offer our customers a wider selection of products at an even faster pace. faster “, explains Sarah Mathew.
To maintain itself as a leader and catch up on fast delivery, Amazon is increasing its promises. Jeff Bezos’ company thinks it will be able to offer drone delivery by the end of 2022. The platform could thus stand out in fast delivery, but it has yet to receive approval from regulators who question the reliability of its drones.
