She no longer sees anything there, just as she no longer hears anything. Or almost. But she is in good health according to Guinness World Records, which has just recognized Flossie as the oldest cat in the world.
Flossie is a 26-year-old woman. As a kitten, she was wandering the streets with other cats near a county hospital in Merseyside, east of Manchester, when she was adopted by an employee of the establishment in 1995, the Guinness website says. A first home where she lived for ten years until her master’s death. Flossie was restored by this man’s sister and then knew 14 years of life with her. Then she had to change homes, after the death of her mistress. Adopted by their brother, Flossie was then entrusted to an association, Cats Protection.
Record to break: 38 years
It was by leafing through the vaccination records that the association found out about the cat’s age. ” We were amazed to see that Flossie’s vet records showed her to be almost 27 said Naomi Rosling, one of Cats Protection’s coordinators.
To this day, Flossie lives with a director who adopted her. ” I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat, but I never imagined that I would be sharing my house with a world record holder ” replied Victoria when she found out that she had the oldest cat in the world on her plaid. ” I don’t plan to treat her any differently than if she didn’t have that record, I plan to make sure she lives the last years of her life like it’s the best she’s ever lived. she promised herself.
How do you help Flossie reach the cat longevity record? It’s not won: according to the Guinness Book of Records, the longest lifespan ever recorded for a cat is that of Creme Puff, who died in 2005 at the age of 38.
