Magic money? Harry Potter coins are coming to the UK

Could it be magic money? The British organization responsible for printing coins and banknotes has announced the creation of a series of collector’s coins bearing the image of Harry Potter. “Royal Mint Launches Collection of Enchanting Coins to Celebrate 25th Anniversary of Harry Potter and the Stone”, first volume of the wizarding adventure created by author JK Rowling, describes the press release released this Thursday as reported by AFP.

The series will consist of four pieces featuring a portrait of the famous wizard with round glasses, but also the Hogwarts Express train, Professor Albus Dumbledore and the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. These will include an optical effect – which mimics the effect of a “thunderbolt” when rotated in front of the light – achieved through an advanced laser, giving both character “magical” to the coins while allowing them to be secured and authenticated as specified by the Royal Mint.
