Microsoft finally sells Windows 11 on its official website

Windows 11 can now be purchased directly from Microsoft’s official website. Before that, to get it, you had to either buy a new computer or go through Windows 10. Windows 11 is displayed at 139 dollars in its Home version only.

Windows 11 was released almost a year ago, but it has only just been released on Microsoft’s official (US) website. In effect, a dedicated page has appeared offering to download the new OS.

For the moment, only the $139 Home version is offered. An astonishing appearance, since Microsoft has made no announcement on the subject, be it a press release, a video or even a tweet. It could even be that this page has been on the site for some time.

Windows 11 is finally commercially available

Windows 11 was released on October 5, 2021 and has been available for download since that date. But before today, it was not possible to buy it digitally. Microsoft offers several solutions to use it, most of which avoid putting your hand in your pocket. Those who have Windows 10 can upgrade to version 11 for free. If the PC is compatible, the operating system highlights the upgrade. New computers are automatically equipped and for special cases, Microsoft sells physical versions.

Microsoft has in fact planned everything so that the transition between the two generations is smooth. Successful bet, so much so that the sale as is of the OS did not fail users, at least for the most part.

As a reminder, Windows 11 has brought many new features compared to Windows 10. The first obviously concerns the design : the Redmond company has not touched much on the navigation, but has revised the visual from top to bottom in order to better adapt to user needs. Note that like Windows 10, Windows 11 will be entitled to a big annual update (in October) in order to bring innovations and evolve over time. What to avoid that it becomes obsolete quickly. For its part, Windows 10 will not be abandoned by Microsoft before 2025 at least.
