Revenue growth from Azure, which enables companies to store their computer data and software, is expected to fall about 5 percentage points excluding currency effects in the current quarter from the previous one, Microsoft CFO Amy Hood said during a conference call with analysts on Tuesday.
The cautious comments dashed hopes that strong demand for cloud services, one of Microsoft’s main growth drivers, would enable the group to offset the sharp slowdown in the PC market. Azure sales grew 42% in the first quarter, which ended in late September, suggesting growth of 37% for the quarter to the end of December.
