Microsoft is rolling out a new cumulative update for Windows 10, KB5020030. It is available through a release preview channel in the Windows Insider program.
Installing KB5020030 upgrades the OS to version 19045.2301. This number is important because it ensures that everything went well. You can find it by launching winver.exe in Run (WIN+R).
This cumulative update is important. It brings several bug fixes, but also some goodies, including small new features.
We find the Quick Assist application and improvements in research. The search box now appears by default on the taskbar when positioned at the top of the screen or when “small icons” mode is used. This area allows you to find information and perform searches on the PC and the web directly from your taskbar. It is not necessary to go through a browser.
As for fixes, the list is quite long. Considerable work has been done around the app update process via the Microsoft Store. For example, we have the decision
- an issue that causes app updates to fail through the Microsoft Store,
- a bug that affects certain devices managed by an enterprise, while improving the reliability of application installations,

Finally, Microsoft announces that it has resolved an issue affecting applications running in WLDP (Windows Lock Down Policy) as well as a bug in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
All this content is offered through a Preview version to ensure everything works perfectly. Once the tests are completed, they will be offered to the public.
