Russia accuses Britain of a “directed and coordinated” attack

“There is evidence that Britain is involved in a sabotage, a terrorist attack against (this) vital energy infrastructure, not Russian, but international. Such actions cannot be left (unanswered). We are going to think about the measures to be taken “, he added, condemning the “unacceptable silence in European capitals”.

Suspicion of sabotage

The spokesman for the new British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, said the allegations by the Russian authorities were aimed at “diverting” attention, which “is part of their usual methods”.

The Russian army had already on Saturday accused London of being involved in the leak that happened on Nord Stream. These claims came after a Ukrainian drone attack on its Black Sea fleet in Crimea, which Moscow also blamed on “British experts” for planning. British Defense had condemned “false claims” by Moscow which it said were intended to “divert attention”.

On 26 September, four large leaks were discovered on the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines off the Danish island of Bornholm. Preliminary underwater inspections had reinforced the suspicion of sabotage, as the leak had been preceded by explosions.
