SpaceX will have the mission to land NASA astronauts on the Moon

Elon Musk stronger than Jeff Bezos. NASA has chosen SpaceX, to the detriment of Dynectis and Blue Origin, the company of the boss of Amazon, to send the next American astronauts to the Moon, a first since 1972, the space agency announced on Friday April 16. The contract worth around 2.9 billion dollars (2.4 billion euros) concerns the Starship spacecraft prototype, which was tested, with relative success, at a SpaceX site in Texas last March.

“Today I am very excited, and we are all very excited to announce that we have awarded SpaceX the development of our moon landing system”, said Lisa Watson-Morgan, head of this program at NASA. SpaceX becomes the sole supplier of the system, a break with the past, because the American space agency often chose several companies in the event of failure of one of them. According to industry analysts, this decision reinforces the company of Elon Musk, created in 2002 with the aim of conquering Mars, in its place as a privileged partner in the private sector.
