Life insurance: half-yearly contributions at their highest since 2010

The contributions in

life insurance reached a level unprecedented since 2010 in the first half of 2022, at 76.4 billion euros, according to figures published by the France Assureurs federation. This record is mainly driven by contributions in

units of account (UA), at 31.5 billion euros, up 8% compared to the first half of 2021. The share of contributions in UA continues to increase: it stood at 42% over the month of June 2022 and at 41% over the whole of the first half of 2022, compared to 39% in 2021. “Life insurance, which has repeatedly proven its solidity, therefore once again confirms its attractiveness”, commented Franck Le Vallois , Managing Director of France Assureurs.

Taxes 2022: availability of tax notices

The

tax notices following the 2021 income tax return will be made available to taxpayers in their personal space on the impots.gouv.fr website by the end of August 2022. The date of receipt of the notice depends on the taxpayer’s situation. According to the General Directorate of Public Finance, 14.2 million tax households have nothing to do, 10.7 million tax households have a balance to pay for a total of 22.5 billion euros and 13.7 million tax households benefit from a reimbursement for an amount of 11.5 billion euros. In the event of an error in the calculation of the tax, it is possible to

file a complaint via the secure messaging system of the tax website.

Inflation: new record in July in the euro zone

Consumer prices increased by 8.9% year on year in July 2022 in the euro zone, against 8.6% in June 2022, according to data from Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union (EU). This inflation is fueled by the sharp rise in

energy prices (39.7%), those of food, alcohol and tobacco (9.8%) and those of industrial goods excluding energy (4.5%) in the context of the war in Ukraine. Among the nineteen euro area countries, the lowest

inflation was recorded in Malta (6.5%) and France (6.8%), while the strongest concerns the Baltic countries, with 22.7% in Estonia and 21% in Latvia.

Investments: what is changing in terms of sustainable development

Since August 2, 2022, financial advisers must take into account the wishes of their clients in terms of

sustainable investment, called “sustainability preferences”, indicates the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF). This obligation concerns all bank advisers and will also apply to wealth management advisers with the status of

financial investment adviser (CIF) from January 1, 2023. “Taking an interest in the sustainability of a financial investment means paying attention to its environmental and social consequences, to respect for human rights and the fight against corruption”, explains the AMF.

Rent reference index: increase of 3.60% in the second quarter of 2022

The National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (Insee) has published the

index of rents (IRL) for the second quarter of 2022, fixing it at 135.84, an annual increase of 3.60%. The rent can be increased by this percentage by the landlord if the lease contract provides for an annual review clause. However, the bill for the protection of purchasing power currently under discussion in Parliament plans to cap the

increase in rents to 3.5% from October 2022 for one year. Since the Alur law of 2014, the landlord must notify the tenant that he plans to revise the rent. The revision then takes effect on the day of the request.

Investment: towards the framing of influencer practices

Faced with the proliferation of financial influencers on

social networks, the Financial Markets Authority (AMF) and the Professional Advertising Regulatory Authority (ARPP) will set up a certificate of responsible influence dedicated to the financial sector. This will involve training influencers on best practices in financial and investment products, particularly on

digital assets, as well as the regulations to which they are subject in terms of investment recommendations and risks of conflicts of interest. Once certification is granted, regulators will track certified influencers.

Tolls: an advantage for holiday voucher payments

In response to a request from the Ministry of Transport, several motorway companies (Sanef, Vinci, APRR and AREA) agreed to grant a 10% credit to

motorists paying the toll with holiday vouchers. To do this, the

holiday vouchers must be credited online to the electronic toll badge concerned between July 14 and September 15, 2022: 10% of the amount spent to pay the toll will then be credited back to the badge for unlimited use, specifies the site service-public.fr. This boost comes against a backdrop of a sharp rise in fuel prices and a 2% increase in toll prices in February 2022.
