This cat is a female and her name is Flossie, we learn from our colleagues at La Voix du Nord.

Despite the decline in her vision and hearing, this cat is still doing well an age of 26. From a young age she lived on the streets with other kittens near a county hospital in Merseyside, east of Manchester. In 1995, an employee of the company decided to adopt him. She will remain 10 years in her new home, until the death of her master. The cat was then taken in by its former master’s sister and lived with her for 14 years. When his mistress died, Flossie was then taken in by an association, Cat protection.

One of the association’s coordinators was shocked to hear Flossie’s age on her vaccination record: “We were amazed when we saw Flossie’s vet records showed she was almost 27” says Naomi Rosling.

The cat currently lives with an executive assistant who adopted her. “I knew from the start that Flossie was a special cat, but I never imagined that I would share my house with a world record holder” she declares. “I intend to make sure she lives the last years of her life as if it were the best she ever lived”.

But the lifetime record for a cat has never been broken so far. This is Creme Puff, a cat who died at the age of 38.
